It's all about balance!
Systematic Kinesiology is a safe, non-intrusive, natural, effective and complete complementary therapy. It uses muscle testing to detect and correct energy and other imbalances in the body and then uses proven, safe techniques to rebalance and energise the body in a truly holistic way. Kinesiology deals with the complete person, on all levels - structural, chemical/nutritional, emotional and energetic. See Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.
People of all ages and from all walks of life have benefitted greatly from this increasingly popular therapy.
Common problems treated with Systematic Kinesiology include:
- Back and neck pain
- Headaches and shoulder tension
- Digestive problems, including irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, heartburn
- Low energy and fatigue
- Old troublesome injuries and habits
- Identification of food sensitivities
- Learning difficulties
- Poor concentration/attention span

Frequently Asked Questions
Who started kinesiology?
Kinesiology comes from Greek 'kinesis' meaning motion, and is known as the study of movement. It has been used as a diagnostic tool since 1964 when Dr George Goodheart, an American chiropractor, discovered that he could determine a great deal about a patient by testing their muscles. He developed a range of muscle tests that enabled him to assess the health of the whole body. Since then, the body of knowledge now known as Applied Kinesiology (AK) has developed rapidly, and much clinical research has validated the many new discoveries. Applied Kinesiology has gained widespread acceptance worldwide. In 1976 Brian Butler pioneered the concept of Applied Kinesiology in Great Britain and Europe. In 1988 the professional organisation called the Association of Systematic Kinesiology was started. Systematic Kinesiology has its roots in the practice and approach endorsed by the International College of Applied Kinesiology based in the United States.
What happens during a treatment?
During the session (which lasts about an hour) your arms, legs or head will be placed into specific positions and then a gentle pressure will be applied. Muscle testing response identifies imbalances that interfere with optimum function. Any imbalances detected are usually corrected using a combination of therapeutic reflex massage, nutritional supplements, and many powerful techniques to relieve structural, mental, emotional and nutritional stresses.
You remain fully clothed throughout, removing only your shoes and watch. It is best to wear comfortable trousers, and socks for the treatment.
What does a muscle test reveal?
Kinesiologists use muscle testing to identify and evaluate the underlying causes of symptoms - this is a bio-feedback system to access information via the receptors of the body/mind. The practitioner always acts only on the clear information received from the client's body, and treats the person in the manner, and in the priority order indicated by testing. All evaluation and correction techniques used are subject to stringent research and evaluation procedures.
When muscles are gently tested, the response depends on whether all the factors involved that enable that muscle to contract are balanced. These factors are:
* Nerve impulses.
* Blood supply.
* Nutrition.
* Lymphatic function.
* Acupuncture energy flow.
* Cerebro-spinal fluid.
* Emotions.
If all factors function well, the muscle locks with little effort on the part of the person being tested. If the muscle tests weak, spongy or difficult to hold, then one or more of these factors needs to be balanced with massage, touch, nutrition, and the resolution of emotional stress. Usually, anything discovered by muscle testing can be corrected immediately, or at least the correction can begin to alleviate the situation. Finding all the imbalances and the compensations, and correcting them, restores the natural balance of the body and enhances its own ability to naturally heal itself.
How many sessions do I need?
Clients usually experience a significant improvement in most common health problems on the first visit. Usually 1 to 3 sessions are sufficient, but depending on how long you have had the problem, or the severity of the complaint, and if the cause still persists, you may need further sessions.
Regular, properly spaced treatments are recommended. As kinesiology is a therapy dedicated to prevention as well as alleviation of imbalances, clients are encouraged to consider regular balances to keep problems at bay. Regular maintenance sessions can help identify potential problems before symptoms start to show.
